Neon Abyss Faith System
The first game has both a Faith meter and Faith Gems. The meter opens Temples during a run; Gems buy Bar upgrades. Crystals are not the same currency.

Temple, Upgrades and 404 Room establish the three uses. The first game is not a gem-only system.
Meter, Gems and Crystals
| Resource | Use |
|---|---|
| Faith meter | Fill with violence or wisdom to spawn the matching Temple |
| Faith Gems | Buy Bar upgrades; a code activation also consumes a Gem earned in the run |
| Crystals | A separate run resource; not the Bar upgrade currency |
Reach a Temple
Once the meter fills, the Temple appears on the map. Use a Portal Stone to reach it. Taking a reward and leaving empties the meter. The Ares Temple asks for a heart-container sacrifice; Athena offers a reward choice without that documented sacrifice.
Tokens Open Boss Routes
Temple revision 7843 describes the Ares token after three heart-container sacrifices. The undated historical Veewo FAQ instead guarantees it after four Violence-room visits in one run. Keep the count unit and historical source separate; neither is a universal current-build promise. The wiki places the Athena token on Temple entry. A token opens the corresponding floor 8 route, where filling the matching meter again leads to the documented Cursed encounter.
Questions this page answers
Does the first game have a Faith meter?
Yes. Violence and wisdom fill a meter that spawns a Temple. It also has separate Faith Gems for permanent upgrades.
Are Crystals permanent upgrade currency?
No. The upgrade source names Faith Gems, not ordinary Crystals.
