Acorn does nothing useful until an egg is following you. It is a pet-route item, not a weapon.
I would skip this in a run with no egg and take it the moment an egg is already trailing me. The bullet block is the whole published effect.
Effect
The 1.4.6 line says your eggs can block enemy bullets. It does not say the egg is destroyed, and it does not give a block count. I am not adding either.
